Cellular Pathology Course X

Hello, Guest

60f. Multiple abnormal areas in liver. ?mets. High alcohol intake.

1. The liver parenchyma shows mixed macro- and microvesicular steatosis, with very prominent spotty necrosis (swollen eosinophilic hepatocytes surrounded by polymorphs).

2. Mallory’s hyaline (pink cytoplasmic “inclusions”) are also prominent and are confirmed on the ubiquitin stain.

3. The perls stain shows mild iron deposition in zone 1 hepatocytes. In this case the iron deposition is probably secondary to alcoholic liver disease.

4. The HVG show portal and perisinusoidal fibrosis.
