ST1 NATIONAL BLOCK TEACHING WEEK

Hello, Guest

65f. Abnormal LFT, jaundice, hepatitis B and C negative. Herbal medication.

1. The H&E shows acute hepatitis (lobular disarray – hepatocyte swelling and injury, inflammation, cholestasis). There is a prominent bile ductular reaction. There is evidence of liver necrosis and collapse (look for areas where there should be hepatocytes but they are not there).

2. The reticulin is difficult (cutting through) but does show some very abnormal areas. The HVG does not show significant fibrosis (look carefully, this can be difficult to interpret).
